Dyslexia Assessments
We offer diagnostic dyslexia assessments for individuals aged 16 and above. These assessments can assist with accessing support at university or in the workplace, and help you understand your unique strengths and challenges.
Assessments take place either face-to-face in Portsmouth or online, and usually last 2–3 hours.

A dyslexia assessment can also help you understand your working style and identify practical strategies to support you in your role.
Many adults seek assessment to help them request reasonable adjustments at work, such as changes to communication methods, organisation tools, or assistive technology.
Your diagnostic report will highlight your cognitive strengths, areas of difficulty, and recommended workplace strategies. This can be shared with your employer to help them understand your needs and put appropriate support in place.
Whether you’re navigating a new job, managing increasing demands, or simply wanting to work more confidently, an assessment can provide clarity and direction.
Assessments for university
A diagnostic dyslexia assessment can be a crucial first step in getting the right support throughout your university studies.
Our assessments provide the formal evidence required to apply for Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSA).
DSA can give you access to specialist study skills tutoring, assistive technology, and other adjustments that can make a meaningful difference to your academic experience.
Alongside the diagnostic decision, you’ll receive a detailed report outlining your strengths, challenges, and recommended strategies for studying.
This helps you understand how you learn best and gives your university clear guidance on the support you may need.
How can an assessment help?
Dyslexia assessments can be used to access support in the workplace or at university, but also to gain personal insight.
Understanding your cognitive profile can help you make sense of past experiences, recognise your strengths, and develop new ways of approaching tasks in everyday life.
What happens during an assessment?
We start with a questionnaire to explore your past experiences of education and your current challenges. Some people find this part of the process quite an emotional experience so please don't worry if this is you. You can either fill out the questionnaire before the assessment or we can work through it together.
The assessment covers areas such as verbal language skills, memory, processing, reading, writing and spelling. This is not an assessment that you need to 'pass'. You are just showing what is easy for you and what is difficult.
The process can take 2-3 hours but we can take regular breaks.
What happens after the assessment?
You’ll receive a comprehensive report that explains your skills and abilities clearly, helping you build self‑knowledge and confidence.
There will also be recommendations for strategies and support to help you in your general life, studies and/or work.
You can also have a 30-minute follow-up call to discuss the report and any questions you may have.
How much is an assessment?
Assessment Fee: £495
For face‑to‑face appointments, an additional £30 room‑hire fee applies.
This fee covers the full assessment process, including all testing, analysis, and interpretation. You will receive a comprehensive, highly detailed diagnostic report, along with any referral letters required for further investigations via your GP or optician.
After you have received your report, a 30‑minute follow‑up call is included to answer any questions and ensure you feel confident about your next steps.
